    Charity Corner 2020 Is Now Live!

    • UPDATE #8 || 9/22/20 || ~3:08 PM NST

    TNT announced that they are not making any more changes to this year's Charity Corner (aka no capsule ratio change RIP).

    • UPDATE #7 || 9/19/20 || ~12 AM NST

    Just quickly summarizing Jellyneo's Recap On TNT's Q&A on CC:

    • Charity Corner Mystery Capsules were definitely too expensive in the beginning.

    • Sticky Snowballs were definitely considered an exploit.

    • Tier 1 Mystery Capsules does have a chance of having its r95-r99 ratios increased. A Staff-to-Staff discussion will be made about this on Monday.

    • No perk shop for sure, but maybe in the future for a new event.

    • Donating Charity Corner Mystery Capsules might not be a thing anymore due to accidental donating.

    • They're unsure about bringing back the original Charity Corner 2017 system.

    • UPDATE #6 || 9/18/20 || 4:00 PM NST

    TNT has sent out NeoMails admitting their mistake with the Tier 1 and Tier 3's information/ratios being swapped.

    • If you have purchased any Tier 3 boxes prior info/ratio fix, you will not be punished for the incident.

    • If you have purchased any Tier 1 boxes, you should have been reimbursed with new Tier 1 boxes with its fixed prize drop odds.

    • UPDATE #5 || 9/17/20 || 4:20 PM NST

    Announced on the New Features, the event has been extended to September 28th. I want to believe that the points issue has been fixed for most people and it should be safe to donate once again, but if you continue to still have problems, then please submit a ticket to support at support@neopets.com.

    • UPDATE #4 || 9/17/20 || ~8 AM NST

    There is currently an issue with missing points. We advise not to donate any items nor redeem any prizes. There is no fix to this at the moment and all we can do is wait for a resolution.

    TNT has released their second update on Charity Corner.

    • Those who have spent points prior to the prize shop update will be given a refund of the difference.

    • The free 500 CC points can now be claimed.

    • The Prize Shop has been specified to be open after the event is over.

    Reposting our message from the Discord:

    There's currently an issue with the points being redeemed/returned. It may be best to wait a bit before you redeem any prizes or the free 500 pts. You may also want to wait to donate until things are fixed.

    The General Store (and Neohomes NP Superstore) are now closed for the duration of the event.

    TNT has made a statement about the events of this year's Charity Corner and has made some adjustments:

    • The Prize Shop item prices have been reduced to 50%+.

    • Everyone will be given out 500 CC points for free (not rewarded yet).

    Granny Hopbobbin is back this year with Captain Rourke to save Dacardia for the Charity Corner! This year's event is quite different than in the previous years, but the donation system is the same.

    The event starts on September 14th and ends on September 24th 28th.

    Icy Snowball Quick Link

    • Since Sticky Snowballs were nerfed to 1 CC point this year, Icy Snowball is the cheapest and highest rewarding item from the Healing Springs at 5 NP/6 CC points. You can only purchase one item from the Healing Springs every 30 minutes.

    Altador Cup Item Hoards

    • If you have participated in this year's Altador Cup (and Staff Tournament), then you might have a hoard of items (Elegant Yooyuball Fountain Pen + Comfort Rock Companion) waiting to be redeemed! Do know that redeeming these items is an extremely tedious process for 1pt per item and you might be better off just buying higher rarity daily items from other players if NP isn't an issue.

    Donations Count Towards Rubbish Avatar

    • Donations accumulated during Charity Corner go towards your discards for the Rubbish avatar! If you've donated (and discarded) a few thousand items, discarding an item through quick stock should net you the avatar!

    Dacardia on the Map

    • Dacardia is now on the Map of Neopia! Right now it just links to the main page of the Event.

    The General Store

    - The General Store is still open if you wish to mass buy (refreshing the purchase screen) Blue Short Hair Brush for 59 NP/1 CC point. Just be careful with refreshing as you can be frozen or have items/NP deleted from your account if TNT Support thinks that you're using a bot.

    Q: When does the event end?

    A: The event ends on September 24th 28th, 2020.

    Q: Did TNT really nerf Sticky Snowballs?

    A: TNT did nerf Sticky Snowballs (just Sticky Snowballs) to 1pt this year.

    Q: Is there a Perk Shop this year?

    A: There is no Perk Shop this year. All the available prizes to purchase with CC points can be found at the Prize Shop.

    Q: Can I donate r180 items?

    A: You cannot donate Retired (r180) items.

    Q: What is the rarity to CC point ratio this year?

    A: It's basically the same as the previous years aside from Sticky Snowball:

    • r1-r79: 1 point

    • r80-89: 2 points

    • r90-97: 6 points

    • r98-r100: 8 points (Sticky Snowball: 1 point (a restriction in 2020, despite being r100)

    • r101: 1 point

    • r102-r179: 4 points

    • r200: 15 points (Hidden Tower items)

    Q: What are the trophy donation amounts this year?

    A: We presume they're going to be similar to the previous years:

    • 1-100 for Participant Tier

    • 101-1,000 for Bronze Tier

    • 1,001-10,000 for Silver Tier

    • 10,001+ for Gold Tier

    Q: What do the Charity Corner Mystery Capsules do?

    A: These No-Trade Mystery Capsules give out a single item of a random rarity. Their ratios are:

    Tier 1 - Ultra Rare (Aquamarine Mystery Capsule Tier 1)

    • 1-84 : 85%

    • 85-89: 10%

    • 90-94: 4%

    • 95-99: 1%

    Tier 2 - Rare (Tropical Breeze Mystery Capsule Tier 2)

    • 1-74 : 85%

    • 75-84: 10%

    • 85-89: 3%

    • 90-94: 2%

    Tier 3 - Common (Coconut Cabana Mystery Capsule Tier 3)

    • 1-74 : 85%

    • 75-84: 10%

    Q: Were the CC points from last year's Charity Corner carried over?

    A: The CC points from last year's Charity Corner were carried over and reduced. Here are the amounts:

    • First 100 points - carried over as is

    • Next 101-1,000 - reduced by 60%

    • Next 1,001-5,000 - reduced by 70%

    • 5001-50,000 - reduced by 90%

    • 50k+ - reduced by 99%

    A fun game my friend and I made up based off of the Snowager

    When my childhood best friend and I were kids (around 9 or 10-ish, so back in 2005? Maybe 2006), we played Neopets almost daily. We shared an account (which I have now since lost any and all access to. Rip The_Sunny_Girls), as well as had our own accounts. But we really loved the Snowager. So we made up a game based off of it.

    My best friend had a loft bed and a crap ton of stuffed animals, plushies, toys, etc underneath. So, how the game went was that one of us would lay on top of the massive pile of stuffed toys, spread out as much as we wanted, and pretended to sleep. The other person would then have to try and steal a toy from the pile without being caught by "the Snowager". If you got caught, you lost and would have to try again. If you won, you got to trade places!

    Of course, there were always strategies to use. As the Snowager, you would try to cover as much area as possible, and try to have as few loose toys out for easy snagging. For the other player, you would try and grab a smaller toy, or a loose one around the edges.

    The key was to listen, be stealthy, and patience. Don't get greedy and grab a bigger toy if there was a possibility of it shifting and alerting the Snowager.

    I remember having soooo much fun playing this as a kid, it was always so heart-pumping.

    I'm just venting, sorry if this isn't allowed.

    My mom has been playing since 2003, so neopets has been a big part of my life. Over a decade. I just recently got back into playing it, and I was unable to get one of my accounts back (seemed to be hacked, I'm positive I had a mutant neopet and it's gone now, fortunately I have my second account from 2008). I fucking didn't realize how hard it was to get into UC trading! I've been training my eyrie as much as possible, and frankly it annoys the hell out of me when I see accounts barely a year old having 6 UCs. I also hate how rude and snobby some of the people in the pound chat are. At this point I'm wishing TNT would just convert all the pets so people don't become such huge elitists of owning so many UCs.

    Is the neo-Neopets really happening, or are we watching efforts doomed to failure?

    I admit that I play neopets less than most people on this sub, but I have always held a soft spot for it. Unfortunately, my experience has recently been blighted by an apparent attempt at modernization and obvious efforts to reignite the beautiful spark that neopets originally brought to so many peoples lives.

    From my brief research, it seems the site developers are both inexperienced, and unfamiliar with the core ideas that made neopets one of the early internets phenomenons.

    Here is my honest opinion:

    The mobile migration is broken and failed

    The team lacks a visionary project manager

    the revenue is insufficient to cover a full development team

    I truly believe that neopets holds a culturally significant form that can be reignited for the new generation, it needs a serious project manager who understands the entirety of its history and is open for broad new ideas.

    either way, the company that bought it does not care for its development or if they do, they lack any imagination
