    I first made my Neopets account sometime in 2006, because my little sister played and her dream was to have a red poogle, but she was too young to really play the game and earn the NP to be able to buy a morphing potion. I figured that, at the clearly superior age of 12 years old, I would be able to make enough NP to get her one. I played on and off for a while, but never quite amassed the amount needed since they used to (from my memory) go for much higher than they do now and tbqh I was absolutely terrible at most of the games. Eventually she and I both stopped playing as we got older, and it wasn't until the recent Situation that I figured why the hell not check on my neopets.

    So after a giant disaster of figuring out my password and username, I managed to log on and go about the usual dailies, and checking out the new things that had cropped up while I'd been gone. And what do I get as a prize from the Mysterious Negg Cave on my very first day back?

    A red poogle morphing potion.

    I haven't had much contact with my sister in the last few years, but part of me wants to reach out just to tell her if she still wanted her red poogle, I'd be happy to help her out.

    Unpopular Opinion: Converted pets are better

    Having played Neopets for 17-19 years roughly, I've spent a lot of time deciding if I wanted a UC pet. Unfortunately for me at the time of conversion, my old main account was newer and hadn't gotten any painted pets yet so all my pets were converted. Probably about a year later I got my Darigan Kougra. I suppose the UC artwork is maybe a little bit more interesting than the converted one but honestly, it's pretty much just got meaner looking eyes and is facing the opposite direction.

    I looked at every single color and all the trade tier values. But when I compare the older designs to the newer ones, I just always like the new ones better. The art is just insanely more crisp and clear.

    Take Darigan Poogle for instance (Darigan Kacheek is another one that looked TERRIBLE). The UC artwork is HIDEOUS in comparison to the new Poogle. They pretty much completely overhauled the design. They used to use that terrible gradient shading that old school Neopets was notorious for and it desperately needed to be updated.

    Don't get me wrong though. There are definitely a few pets that suffered from conversion and the introduction of customization, which as an OG Neopian I don't really like. I do be liking them backgrounds and foreground items though. It's way less boring than the blue circle.

    Colors I think suffered:

    • All Grey pets (don't carry nearly the same amount of despair)
    • All Faerie pets (especially with the wings in the NC Mall)
    • Some of the Halloween pets
    • Royal Girl/Boy

    Species/Colors I personally felt were improved:

    • Mutant Jetsam
    • Plushie Poogle
    • Darigan

    Keep in mind I'm not bashing your UC dreamies. I just don't understand why some Neopians place so much emphasis on UC pets--it's at the point where people actively sell pets offline and overall people just have a lot of nasty pet elitism in regards to UC pets. Especially over artwork that is lackluster, even if it is rarer. A rare paint brush color is still a rare paint brush color.

    RIP Legends and Letters & Ghoul Catchers Megathread!

    Just earlier today, TNT e-mailed out to everyone that Legends and Letters & Ghoul Catchers would be removed from Google Play and iOS app stores on July 22nd, 2020. The games themselves would be shut down on December 31, 2020. L&L Crossovers have been retired, but Ghoul Catchers will still be awarding their rewards until then.

    Quick FAQ

    Q: Can I still play the game?

    A: If you still have the app (L&L/GC), you can play until December 31, 2020.

    Q: Can I still earn site rewards?

    A: L&L no, but yes to GC (YOUR 50K A DAY IS OKAY UNTIL THEN). L&L players will get a special something though as a thank you for playing the game.

    Q: Can I still get technical support for the game?

    A: Yeah, but tech support for L&L/GC ends on July 22, 2020. After that, you're fucked.

    Q: How long will the game be playable?

    A: You've got until December 31, 2020.

    Q: Will I still be able to make in-app purchases for L&L?

    A: All in-app purchases for L&L will be free on July 22, 2020. So, go get gacha game on.

    Q: WILL THE L&L ITEMS BE TRADABLE?

    A: We have no idea and TNT has not said anything about this.

    I recently switched over to Japanese to keep up with my studies (immersion at its finest) and noticed a few things:

    - Most noticeably and most widely known, the feeding rule (Same name length) means your Neopet is less picky

    - Your hunger is now given a numeric value instead of "hungry" or "bloated"

    - a lot more emoticons in pet reactions o-o

    - Some of the newer battledome items do not work! A very unpleasant surprise when I was trying to use the bowling bowl of the lost city. Thought some broken Battledome items might work (*COUGH COUGH* Heavy Robe of Thievery), sadly it does not.

    - Also while RSing, I noticed that a lot of the newer items have notes that say: "todo - sept 14" or "todo - 24th july" . Looks like they have a backlog.

    Still messing around with this to see if there are other goodies. It is like finding a beta of Neopets.

    Legends and Letters is shutting down on December 31st 2020

    I just got this email a few minutes ago from TNT themselves: "Hello Neopians,

    Firstly, we'd like to thank you for playing and supporting Legends & Letters over the past couple of years. We hope you've enjoyed playing the game!

    We're writing to let you know that on July 22, 2020, the Legends & Letters mobile game will be removed from the Google Play and iOS app stores. If you have the app downloaded on your device after that date, you'll be able to continue playing Legends & Letters until December 31, 2020.

    As a thank you for playing the game, we'll be sending an exclusive Legends & Letters themed item to your Neopets.com account in the future, so keep an eye on your inbox!

    For more information on this transition, please read the FAQ section below.

    Q: Can I still play the game? A: If you still have the app on your device after July 22, you'll be able to continue playing through game levels and earning in-game rewards until the end of the year.

    Q: Will there still be monthly events? A: Legends & Letters will no longer be holding monthly events for the Crossover Challenge, and you will no longer be able to receive rewards from the game on Neopets.com. However, the weekly events in-game will still be running.
